I have been into bikes since I was only 5 or 6. A friend of mine had an off road bike and I loved it. My first shot at racing was on moto-cross around 1995. First time out I got 5th overall in the B class. Stuck at that for a few years until work started interfering…. I started road racing in September 2001, I bought a second hand Yamaha R1 to go do some track days. My licence had a couple of points on it you see….

Team Zyggi’s Racing was formed in May 2002. Company owner Jim Fraser is a mad bike enthusiast and was keen to help out, he tries to get to all the meetings. In 2002 Zyggi’s Rock Drilling was my main sponsor but I was also sponsored by Xtreme Valet, Taylors No 1 Burger Van, R & E Metal Polishing, Henry’s Autos and The Entertainment Experience .

Over the 2002 season I gained a lot of experience and had my eyes opened by the faster riders. We visited Donington Park, East Fortune and Knockhill. By the end of the year I was going round Knockhill in 58 seconds on my R1. The front runners were running 53’s…

2003 saw the purchase of a new (second hand) GSXR 1000 K1. Last years R1 was a 99 model and was off the pace. The new bike was much quicker than the old one and now after 4 meetings I am running in the 56’s mainly with 55’s on the way. The best position this year has been 10th out of a table of around 30 riders, with points being scored in the Scottish Championship. I am currently 13th. A vast improvement over last year. There’s still more to come though……..
